Markos Valaris is a lecturer in philosophy at the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia.  He earned his PhD in philosophy from the University of Pittsburgh (USA) in 2008.  In a past life he studied Electrical Engineering at the National Technical University of Athens.  While his primary research interests are in the philosophy of mind (with a special emphasis on cognitive agency), he has interests in many different areas of philosophy, including ethics and political philosophy.  But he still ends up spending most of his time with his daughter Eirene, who was born in Sydney in 2010.
